I didn’t even mean to go to this pet cemetery. Well, I knew that I’d be busy on my trip, so I didn’t try to find out if there were any pet cemeteries where I’d be. But when Dan and I were finalizing our plans to go to the May Museum for his birthday, I saw on a map that right at the end of the road the museum is on was Pet Rest Memorial Park. It wasn’t out of the way at all, really too perfect to miss the opportunity, so Dan and I spent about 20 minutes walking around in the heat so I could photograph before we started toward Bishop Castle. It was different than any pet cemetery I’d photographed yet in that it’s at the base of a big hill instead of on a grassy, treed plot. The Front Range of Colorado is such an odd landscape, a mix of mountainous and desert-like. I’m really glad it worked out. I definitely got at least a couple photos that I think will make it into the final edit.
