Back in the summertime, when I found out I’d be going to Dallas for a conference for my job in November, the first thing I did was search for pet cemeteries I could visit and photograph. I was amazed to learn there were six within the Dallas-Forth Worth area, and now I’m amazed I made it to all of them in the daylight hours over two days. Each one was pretty big and worthy of spending at least an hour inside. The first one I went to, Toothacres Pet Crematory and Cemetery, was full of treasures. Usually at pet cemeteries, there are lawn-level markers and upright headstones, and a few vases holding old or fake flowers. This place had so many statues – of all types, and in all conditions. I loved photographing here. This was a great start to the (photo) work part of the trip.
