The first (free) day in Dallas, I visited two pet cemeteries. After Toothacres, I went to Pet Rest Memorial Park & Crematory. I knew I’d struggle with the late-fall light and getting exposures I was happy about, and it was really windy, which always throws me off when photographing. But I loved this pet cemetery almost as much as the first one. The gravestones here had such sweet, sad inscriptions – “Our boy has gone walking,” “Peacefully sleeping” – and many of the lawn-level markers were half covered in dirt, being swallowed up by the ground. It was a lovely place.
