While we always spend New Year’s Day at the coast, we’ve never spent the night on New Year’s Eve. The past couple years Nat and I have been at an event put on at my work, but it wasn’t planned for this year. We didn’t really have any plans until about a week before, when we looked at hotels in Astoria and found a cheap room. I still had to work on New Year’s Eve, but as soon as I got home we drove out to the coast. We watched some NYE stuff on TV, and then Matilda on my laptop – I had been joking since the summer that one of my life goals was to watch the chocolate cake scene with my own slice of chocolate cake to indulge in. I filmed my last second in my 1 Second Everyday video (!), and when we woke up it was a new year. We spent the morning in the hotel’s hot tub (which was so nice?!) and then walked around in town. Everything was closed but we had a nice time looking in all the windows. We went into a couple antique stores that were open, tried to go to Buoy but it was closed, and then headed down to Cannon Beach. The sunset was incredible, as you can see.
