I’m just now getting to photos from almost two months ago – but that’s okay because I took zero pictures on my camera from this day until we went to Los Angeles the second weekend in February. Like good West Coast-ers, we’ve spent every New Year’s Day at the ocean since we moved here. The coast in winter is always amazing, and it feels good to start the new year in a place so restorative. The light was incredible (I made everyone take selfies with me, and the recreation of this photo had to happen) and the tide was so low – we got closer to Haystack Rock than we maybe ever have. While I was at work for a little bit earlier in the day (uploading photos from the New Year’s Eve party), my buddies went to New Seasons and surprised me with a perfect beach-ready dinner and cans of wine. We sat on a log opposite the big rock and drank, then walked to Public Coast once it started to get dark for more snacks and beers. It was such a great day.
