We got our first snow on Christmas Eve, and it was magical. My mom sent me an article that said “The National Weather Service says it’s only the sixth time since 1884 that downtown Portland had measurable snow – only an inch or two – on a Dec. 25.” On Christmas Day, we thought we’d drive out to Tryon Creek for a walk, and the roads were so bad! There was even a downed tree across one, nearly thwarting our efforts! But Nathaniel is an amazing driver, so we made it to the almost-empty park for a walk in the snow. This was our first Christmas alone, and honestly it was pretty awesome.
