We had our first frost a couple of weeks ago, followed by the first snow the next day. My workplace has had a mixture of closures and delays ever since, and one afternoon it took Nat three hours to get home from work. And the power went out for a few hours one morning, probably due to the weather. We spent a Sunday morning on Sauvie Island and have spent most of our free time decorating for the holidays or sending out cards or getting gifts wrapped (and watching aaallll of the Christmas movies).

This past weekend, we decided to go to the coast for the first time in almost two months. It was a perfect day at Cannon Beach. We were seeing these things that looked like pink… fish sticks? All over the beach? So I went to the Seaside Aquarium’s Facebook to find out what they were. Pyrosomas! I also found out that since I haven’t been on Facebook since the election I missed another whale body on the beach, a gray whale calf, likely stillborn. I wish I’d gotten to see it. It was gone again the next day.
