For our TEN-YEAR (!!!) anniversary, we planned a trip up to Bellingham, WA, to take a whale watching cruise to San Juan Island. It was an incredible day. We had great weather and we saw so many whales, all orcas. The boat captain said he had never seen so many local and transient whales together in the same area. There was a point where the whales came right up to the boat; the captain said that does not happen very often at all. It was so exciting and amazing, watching the whales come out of the water and flip into the air. I only have a 50mm prime lens, so that gives you an idea of their distance in the wide photos.

Our boat stopped at Friday Harbor on San Juan Island for a couple hours, and since we had eaten on the boat, we decided to spend the time at The Whale Museum. We also hung out with Popeye, the resident harbor seal on the dock at Friday Harbor. She is lovely.

Nathaniel took lots of GoPro footage, but these days he isn’t editing it much. Maybe by year 11 I’ll have something to watch ;)
