After we got back from Washington, we stayed at a hotel right between NE and SE Portland. I’d drop Nathaniel off at the train stop and he’d go to work while I walked around checking out that side of the city. Cody and I walked to Mt. Tabor Park, which I thought was so beautiful. Thursday night, we saw Morrissey (!!!!!) and Friday morning, I checked us out of our last hotel and started moving our things into our house! Cody definitely approves of the backyard. Nat and I slept on an air mattress our landlords graciously lent us until we started the trip to Colorado Wednesday morning.
We stopped briefly at the cement plant in Lime, which was kind of bizarre to see based on memories of the last time we visited there in 2011. After camping at Lava Hot Springs again, we made it to the Springs. We picked up our moving truck, had friends over for Louie’s and goodbyes, and then promptly turned around and headed for Oregon for the “last” time, Nat and the animals and me in my car following Nat’s parents driving the truck towing Nat’s car. Everybody did fine in the car and spending the night in the hotel in Pocatello! Amazingly, we were home before we knew it. Nat’s parents had to get on a flight back to Colorado pretty quickly, so we spent Monday morning on a hike in Forest Park and then saw them off. I really don’t know what we would have done without them and their willingness to give up their space and their time to help us move 1,300 miles away.
So now we’re settling in here, working and running various errands. We finally upgraded the OS on the iMac, and subsequently upgraded to Photoshop and Lightroom CC, which I am spending all my “free time” learning about and playing around with. So expect pictures processed very experimentally soon, haha.
