My best friend Dan and his girlfriend Jes got engaged on Thanksgiving and they asked me to make some photos of them together. We tried to do it while I was in Colorado at Christmastime but it never worked out, and I was pretty afraid of the pictures being overwhelmingly wintry regardless of where we did them. They made the drive out here last weekend and Nat and I decided to take them to Neosho Falls (which we had wanted to see again in the winter and wow, it looks so different and so neat). It was an incredibly nice day, almost reaching 50 degrees and with perfect light inside the abandoned school.

In the evening, we drove up to Perry where I had reserved us a cottage through Airbnb (yes, second weekend in a row) for the night. It was so nice. We made dinner and drank wine and watched Dreamcatcher by the wood stove. In the morning Nat made us breakfast and we made lots of animal friends and I took some more photos of Dan and Jes in the gorgeous light inside the cottage. We went to the lake for a minute, where it was freezing cold, and then Dan and Jes had to go. It was such a wonderful weekend and I am really anxious to finish going through the images we made.

This weekend I am making the 19-hour drive to North Carolina to help a friend move! And then it’s less than two weeks until SPE in New Orleans. This season is so busy and so freaking cold in Kansas but I absolutely love everything that’s going on during this time. I’ll blink and it’ll be spring.
