Eight weeks from today, Nathaniel and I will be driving 560 miles to our new home in Lawrence, KS. The window in the bottom right of this picture is in the living room of our new apartment. The house is on a street with houses only on one side and it is just one block from the KU campus, three blocks from the natural history museum I am in love with. I’m super happy to continue to have awesome high ceilings and hardwood floors, and to have a washer and dryer inside the apartment, and a dishwasher. Luxury livin. Also really excited to pack all our stuff into a trailer and drive for nine hours with two cats. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Also, I deactivated my Facebook account today. With the introduction of Timeline, I’ve been feeling really uncomfortable with the accessibility of my information, to others and to myself (things I have posted within the past five years), and the accessibility of others’ information via Facebook. I am obsessed with other people, and Facebook makes it really easy for me to find out things about other people, even when I’m not looking. I have spent way too much time on that site and I’m feeling good about connecting with people in more real ways than viewing what they post on Facebook. I’m pretty stoked on the fact that I see, call, or text my ten closest friends almost daily, and I know they’re gonna come visit us when they can, so hopefully I won’t feel like I’m missing out on much.
I’m excited to focus more on my own life and the people directly in it and our relocation at the end of the summer. Gotta be brave and embrace this change in our lives. Change is a good thing.
