Even though I’d had an ear infection since our first full day in Kansas the weekend before, Nathaniel and I decided to drive to Breckenridge for Memorial Day since his family had rented a “cabin” (enormous, beautiful house) there and almost his entire family was there, including an uncle and aunt I hadn’t met yet. There were 16 of us staying there in all! We mostly drove around a lot and ate so much food and skipped some stones on Lake Dillon. Since I was feeling so awful, I skipped out on the bigger outings and stayed at the house petting a porch dog and putting together a puzzle with Nathaniel’s grandpa and aunt and watching cake boss and playing Sorry with his cousins. The house had a hot tub and we stupidly forgot our bathing suits, so we went to the Walmart in Frisco and bought ridiculous patriotic ones.

It was so beautiful there, and the drive there and back was so green (I am seriously blown away by the lushness of typically yellow, dry Colorado so far this summer), I had to think about how much I will miss living here when we move.
